Dan Jardine - Democrat
for
State Assembly

Dear Neighbors of the 47th
Assembly District:
Are you tired of politicians who make all of their decisions for politics'
sake, instead of truly representing the people who elect them?
Are you tired of having a Representative who exercises no leadership,
has passed no major legislation in 16 years, and now does whatever his
right-wing party leader from Peshtigo tells him to do?
Are you tired of nominating a Democrat who has already lost twice to
Gene Hahn in a District that votes
Democratic for almost every other office (State Senate, Governor, U.S.
Senate and Congress)?
If so, then I hope you agree that it's not only time for a change, but
also that . . .
IT'S TIME TO WIN!!!
Until a few years ago I, like many of you, spent my time helping my
community by participating in a variety of volunteer activities. I
devoted my free time to those important activities and did not immerse
myself in politics. However, in the past few years I became so dismayed
and embarrassed at the conduct of the new right-wing of the Republican
Party
that I simply could not sit back and take it any longer. So, in
2004 I put my house on the market, sold it, and moved the few miles into
the District specifically to oust Gene Hahn and restore common sense
to the State Assembly.
For the past two years I have been proud to serve on the DeForest Police
Commission and on the DeForest Veterans Memorial Foundation--designing,
promoting and constructing a first-class veterans memorial park for the
area.
My goals and hopes for our State and District are not complicated. I
believe strongly that most Wisconsinites want essentially the same things:
- A clean, representative government.
- A healthy and safe environment in which to live.
- A vibrant economy, including affordable health care.
- An education system we can be proud of.
- The freedoms-for all-- that have given us so much pride
in our great State.
Despite these self-evident truths, the legislature's current majority
has been focused on legislation that is made by and for the far-right,
and which not only fails to serve us, but actually seeks to divide us.
IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE!
If you do not remember the recent passage of a major bill addressing
our health care affordability crisis, don't be embarrassed. It
didn't happen. That is because the current leadership of the legislature
was instead preoccupied with finding a divisive election-year issue,
such as amending our Constitution to expressly discriminate against a
particular group of our fellow Wisconsinites.
About Marines it is said that there is "No better friend--No worse enemy."
Consistent with that motto, I look forward to working with all reasonable
legislators--regardless of political party-on issues that truly matter. However,
I will fight like a Marine in opposing those whose only agenda seems
to be the lining of pockets and the consolidation of power. And I will
do what my opponent in the primary has already failed to do (convincingly)
twice--BEAT GENE HAHN.
It's time to get back to things that matter, not that divide. I look
forward to this mission of bringing back a State government we can be
proud of, and I hope
you'll join me.
Sincerely,
Dan
